Healing Hearts and Rebuilding Lives: Humanitarian Support in the Kharkiv Region
A total of 300 individuals in the Barvinkove and Bohodukhiv communities of the Kharkiv region have received UAH 10,800 each in cash assistance.
"If you wish to be treated fairly, be fair yourself. If you seek respect for your labor, respect the labor of others. If you hope for help in a difficult hour, help those in need." — Metropolitan Epiphanius.
Following this guiding principle, the Kharkiv branch of the Eleos-Ukraine (Social Service and Charity Department of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine) remains steadfast in its mission. We stand with the residents of the Kharkiv region who were forced to flee their homes due to the war and have found a new sanctuary in the Barvinkove and Bohodukhiv communities.
More Than Just Four Walls
The pain of losing a home is not about material loss; it is about losing a part of oneself. Along with their houses, the occupiers stole lifetimes of memories: the legacy of ancestors who built these homes, the echoes of children’s laughter, and the stories of families who grew and thrived there.
For many, the struggle of displacement is compounded by disabilities and severe chronic illnesses. These health challenges often make it impossible for individuals to provide for their own basic needs independently.
A Safety Net in Times of Uncertainty
The weight of displacement, combined with economic hardship and the constant psychological toll of air raid sirens, has left many in a state of profound distress and anxiety.
To address these urgent needs and provide a basic safety net, we continue our support project for the people of Kharkiv. This initiative is implemented in partnership with LWF Ukraine (Lutheran World Federation), with the support of Radiohjälpen, and is funded by the ACT Alliance.
Together, we are not just providing financial aid; we are restoring hope and dignity to those who have lost so much.
