Nearby When It's Needed Most: Supporting Vulnerable Families in Frontline Communities
War has the greatest impact on those who are already among the most vulnerable — older people, families with young children, persons with disabilities, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and people who have lost their homes. To support those most at risk, Johanniter International Assistance, EMERGENCY ONG ETS, UK-Med, and Eleos-Ukraine have joined forces to implement a humanitarian project in the Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk regions. The project is funded by the European Union and co-financed by Aktion Deutschland Hilft.
The project's goal is to reduce health risks, improve protection, and strengthen the resilience of people living in frontline communities or affected by the consequences of war by providing timely, integrated humanitarian assistance.
The project is available to:
- Persons with disabilities or severe functional limitations;
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women;
- Older people aged 60 and above who live alone;
- Large families and households with children under the age of five;
- Female-headed households and families with a single caregiver;
- Evacuees;
- Internally displaced people (IDPs) who have been displaced within the past six months.
Eligible individuals and families may receive:
- Hygiene kits;
- Safe evacuation services;
- Legal assistance, including support with restoring lost or damaged documents;
- Psychosocial support and psychological first aid;
- Referrals to specialised organisations and services based on individual needs.
