Safe Evacuation Remains a Priority for the Road of Hope Project Team

The safe evacuation of large families from frontline communities is one of the key priorities of the “Road of Hope” project. Families with multiple children often delay the decision to leave for as long as possible, despite the growing risks.

The Lavreh family remained in the village of Pysarivka in the Kharkiv region until the very end. The parents and their four children stayed even after the village lost not only its sense of security but also economic opportunities.

“At least there was work when the farm was operating. But once it closed, there was nothing left to stay for,” says the father, Oleksandr.

When the family finally decided to leave their home, they turned to Eleos-Ukraine for assistance.

Today, the parents and their children are safe in Kharkiv. The “Road of Hope” team organized their evacuation from the frontline community, provided temporary accommodation in one of the city’s hostels, and connected the family with organizations and institutions that could address their immediate needs and support their longer-term recovery.
